Who We Are
We are planners, designers, architects and engineers with a passion for problem-solving. We are drawn to the complexity and challenge of healthcare, and we have designed dozens of facilities for hospitals, medical groups, and physician practices throughout the Northeast.
Why Healthcare?
We love the field of healthcare because it is always changing. We immerse ourselves in the field. No two healthcare projects are exactly alike. Each must take into account evolving demographics, care concepts, technology, reimbursement, and competition. A renewed emphasis on value and wellness has changed what is needed, and where it is needed. We strive not only to know where the industry is today, but to imagine where it will be tomorrow.
A Team Approach
It takes a team approach to solve complex issues. We provide leadership to integrate the client’s administration and front-line clinicians into a fully-collaborative process. In that process, we combine the client’s experience with our own, and expand with our knowledge of current evidence and research. We bring all the required planning, design and engineering disciplines to the table through long-standing collaboration with experienced structural engineers, interior designers, and building services (MEP) engineers. We also coordinate equipment planners, specialty vendors, and others when needed for a specific project.
Our design team includes:

Leadership
Stratton Brook Associates was founded by Randy Cole in 2002. Randy has 30 years’ experience in the planning and design of healthcare and technology facilities. He leads each project team and provides functional planning and project management services, architectural and design services. He has designed hospitals, ambulatory surgery and endoscopy centers, imaging facilities, ambulatory care centers, cancer centers, rehabilitation facilities, group practice facilities, and medical office suites for most clinical specialties. In 2015, recognizing a need for an integrated design and construction solution for certain healthcare projects, Randy joined with construction partner David Phillips to form Exigent Healthcare Environments, LLC, a separate entity to complement the services of Stratton Brook Associates when appropriate.
